Find a quiet place, free of distractions

Set a timer for one minute and close your eyes

Take a few slow deep breaths and fall still

Gently open your eyes and begin the process

Bring to mind a situation where you are experiencing some frustration

  • Write for 5-10 minutes about the situation  
  • Cross out everything that is your interpretation and not an undisputable fact. (i.e I texted my friend, who hasn't bothered to reply because she is too busy for me and doesn't value our friendship.  
  • Re-write with just the facts and read out loud. (i.e I have not received a reply message from my friend.)
  • How do you feel different about the situation now?
  • What can you see is the cost of negative interpretations?
